Shopify Plus Development

Shopify Plus gives you a set of capabilities the standard plan does not: composable checkout customisation through Checkout Components, server-side logic through Shopify Functions, native B2B with automated net terms, multi-store expansion, and advanced automation through Flow. Getting value from Plus means using those capabilities deliberately. We build, configure, and extend Plus stores so the platform works for your business, not just under it.

What it is

What does Shopify Plus actually unlock?

Shopify Plus is Shopify's enterprise tier, and its value is specific rather than general. The capabilities that matter most are: Checkout Components, the composable checkout surface that replaced checkout.liquid as the supported customisation path (now generally available as of Summer '26); Shopify Functions, which let you run custom discount, shipping, and payment logic server-side; native B2B, which adds company accounts, custom price lists, and, since Summer '26, net terms with automated invoicing as a built-in feature with no third-party app required; Markets for multi-currency and multi-language expansion; and Shopify Flow for no-code automation across your store and connected apps.

The honest point about Plus is that the tier alone does not deliver the value: implementation does. Most stores that upgrade to Plus without a clear build plan use fewer than half the capabilities they are paying for. We audit what Plus unlocks for your specific business, prioritise the capabilities with the highest return, and build them correctly so you are not paying enterprise pricing for standard-plan results. This page is the hub for Plus work; specific capabilities including checkout customisation, B2B, and integration have their own dedicated pages.

How we work

How we approach a Shopify Plus engagement

1Plus capability audit

We map your current Plus usage against the full capability set and identify the highest-value gaps to close first.

2Prioritised build plan

We produce a phased plan covering Checkout Components, Functions, B2B, Markets, and integrations in the order that delivers the most return.

3Core build and configuration

We build and configure the prioritised capabilities, starting with checkout and B2B where applicable, using the current Plus toolchain.

4Integration and automation

We connect external systems and configure Shopify Flow automation to reduce manual operational work.

5Testing and platform compliance

We test all checkout flows, B2B journeys, and automation triggers, and verify compliance with current Plus platform requirements.

6Launch and platform tracking

We go live and set up tracking for upcoming Plus platform changes so your store is never caught by a deprecation deadline.

Why it matters

What effective Plus implementation delivers

Plus is most valuable when its specific capabilities are built and used deliberately rather than left as unused line items in the plan cost.

Checkout that converts

Checkout Components let you customise the Plus checkout UI and logic in ways that standard themes cannot, directly affecting conversion rate.

B2B without workarounds

Native B2B with Summer '26 automated net terms means wholesale runs inside Shopify without third-party billing apps or manual invoicing.

Platform that scales with you

Higher API limits, Shopify Flow automation, and multi-store architecture mean Plus can support operational complexity that the standard plan cannot.

Who this is best for

The right fit

Best for high-volume merchants and B2B or multi-market sellers

Merchants whose checkout, B2B, or multi-market requirements genuinely push past the standard plan's limits, and teams who need the higher API throughput and automation tools that Plus provides for operational efficiency at scale.

Plus may not be the right next step

If your store is on standard Shopify and the primary gap is checkout customisation or B2B, confirm the specific capability you need before upgrading: some checkout changes are available on standard through Checkout Extensibility, and the upgrade cost should be weighed against the specific return.

FAQs

Common questions about Shopify Plus

What does Shopify Plus cost and is it worth it?

Shopify Plus pricing starts at around $2,300 per month [verify] and scales with your revenue. Whether it is worth it depends on whether you will actually use the Plus-exclusive capabilities: Checkout Components, Shopify Functions, native B2B, higher API limits, and Shopify Flow. If your current plan's limits are not a constraint, the upgrade is unlikely to pay for itself. We will tell you honestly where the return is before you commit.

What is the difference between Checkout Components and Checkout UI Extensions?

Checkout Components, which reached general availability on Plus in Summer '26, are composable building blocks that replace checkout.liquid as the supported path for customising the checkout UI. Checkout UI Extensions are the mechanism you use to embed custom content inside those components. In practice: Checkout Components define the checkout's structure and layout; Extensions add your custom fields, banners, and content within that structure. Both require Plus.

Does Plus include native B2B, and what does it actually cover?

Yes. Shopify Plus includes a native B2B suite: company accounts with multiple buyers and locations, custom price lists per company, draft orders and quotes, and, since Summer '26, net terms with automated invoicing as a built-in feature. Before Summer '26, net terms required a third-party app. The native B2B suite handles standard wholesale workflows without additional app spend.

We are still running Shopify Scripts. What do we need to do?

Shopify Scripts stopped executing on June 30, 2026. Any checkout, shipping, or payment logic that was running through Scripts is no longer active. The migration path is Shopify Functions, which handles the same logic types server-side using WebAssembly. If your Scripts have not been migrated, this is urgent work and we can scope and build the Functions replacements for you.

Can you help us migrate from another platform to Shopify Plus?

Yes. Platform migration is a separate engagement that covers product, customer, and order data migration, URL redirect mapping, and a cutover plan. We scope migrations individually because the complexity depends heavily on your current platform and catalog size. Contact us for a migration assessment.

What Plus platform changes should we be tracking right now?

As of June 2026, the two near-term changes to track are the Polaris web-components migration for checkout and customer-account extensions, with an October 1, 2026 deadline [verify], and the Stocky inventory app shutdown on August 31, 2026 [verify]. A maintenance plan that tracks these deadlines proactively is far less expensive than an emergency migration.
