Shopify B2B and Wholesale
Shopify Plus has a native B2B suite that handles the core wholesale workflow inside Shopify: company accounts with multiple buyers and locations, custom price lists per company, quantity rules, draft orders, and, since Summer '26, net terms with automated invoicing as a built-in feature requiring no third-party billing app. Getting B2B right on Shopify means configuring these tools deliberately and integrating them with your ERP or OMS so wholesale orders and inventory stay accurate across your operation.

What it is
What does native Shopify B2B include?
Shopify Plus's native B2B suite is the set of wholesale capabilities built directly into the platform rather than delivered through third-party apps. The core features are: company accounts, which let you represent a wholesale buyer as a company with multiple contacts and shipping locations; custom price lists, which assign specific pricing to each company or location; quantity rules and minimum order requirements; draft orders and a quote workflow for non-self-serve purchasing; and, since Summer '26, net terms with automated invoicing for net-30 and net-60 payment workflows. The net terms feature, generally available as of the Summer '26 Edition, removes the need for a third-party billing app for standard invoice-based wholesale payment.
Native B2B requires Shopify Plus and is designed for merchants who sell to both DTC and wholesale buyers from the same Shopify store. The B2B storefront is a separate, password-protected surface that uses the same product catalog but shows company-specific pricing and payment terms. It is not a replacement for a dedicated wholesale platform if your B2B operation involves highly complex pricing matrices, ERP-driven order management, or a procurement workflow that Shopify's current B2B surface does not support. We will tell you honestly whether native B2B covers your requirements or whether a custom app or integration is needed to fill the gaps.

Why it matters
What well-configured Shopify B2B delivers
Native B2B on Plus brings wholesale inside Shopify rather than alongside it, removing the operational split between DTC and wholesale data.
Wholesale without extra apps
Net terms with automated invoicing, company-specific pricing, and draft orders all run natively on Plus with no third-party billing or pricing app required.
One catalog, two storefronts
DTC and wholesale buyers see the same product catalog with different pricing and payment terms, managed from a single Shopify admin.
Accurate across systems
B2B orders connected to your ERP mean wholesale inventory, revenue, and customer data are accurate in both Shopify and your back-office systems.
Who this is best for
The right fit
Best for Plus merchants with an established wholesale channel
Shopify Plus stores that sell to business buyers alongside DTC, with a need for company-specific pricing, net payment terms, and a structured quote or draft order workflow. Also right for merchants currently managing B2B through workarounds like manual discount codes or third-party wholesale apps they want to consolidate onto the native platform.
Native B2B has scope limits
If your wholesale operation requires highly complex pricing matrices, procurement system integration, or order workflows that go beyond Shopify's native B2B surface, you may need custom app development or a deeper ERP integration to cover those gaps. We will assess your requirements and tell you clearly what native B2B handles and what it does not.
FAQs
Common questions about Shopify B2B and wholesale
Does Shopify Plus B2B now include net terms without a third-party app?
Yes. Shopify's Summer '26 Edition made native B2B net terms with automated invoicing generally available on Plus. Standard net-30 and net-60 payment workflows are now a built-in feature, removing the need for a third-party billing app for most wholesale invoice scenarios. If your net terms requirements are more complex, such as custom payment schedules or integration with an external accounts receivable system, those still require additional configuration or integration work.
Does Shopify B2B require a separate store or a separate theme?
No. Native Shopify B2B operates within your existing Plus store as a password-protected storefront that shows company-specific pricing and payment terms to logged-in wholesale buyers. Your DTC and B2B operations share the same product catalog and Shopify admin. You do not need a separate store or a separate theme, though some merchants choose to apply a B2B-specific theme template for a more tailored wholesale experience.
Can we have different pricing for different wholesale customers?
Yes. Shopify B2B price lists let you assign specific pricing to each company or location. You can create percentage-based discounts from your standard price list, fixed custom prices per product, or volume-based pricing tiers. Each company account can have one or more price lists assigned, and pricing updates to a list apply immediately to all companies using it.
How does Shopify B2B handle the approval process for new wholesale accounts?
New company accounts are created and managed by your team in the Shopify admin, or can be submitted through a custom request form and processed manually. Shopify Flow can automate the notification and approval workflow: triggering an internal alert when a new wholesale inquiry arrives, updating the company status when approved, and sending a welcome communication to the buyer. There is no fully self-serve wholesale account application in the native B2B surface.
What is the difference between Shopify B2B and a wholesale channel app?
Native Shopify B2B is built into Plus and does not add a third-party app to your store's script load or your monthly app spend. Wholesale channel apps like Wholesale Gorilla or Wholesale Hero sit on top of Shopify's standard plan and replicate B2B functionality through app code. Native B2B is more reliable, has no performance overhead, and integrates directly with Shopify's checkout and order management. If you are on Plus, native B2B is the correct path.
Can we connect Shopify B2B orders to our ERP?
Yes, and for most merchants this connection is essential. B2B orders in Shopify carry company account data, price list references, and net terms details that your ERP needs to process invoicing and inventory correctly. We build this connection through the Shopify Admin API and webhooks, mapping B2B-specific order fields to your ERP's data model. The integration ensures wholesale orders, inventory deductions, and invoice status stay accurate across both systems.
